Gophers are herbivores who will eat plants from the roots up, destroying landscapes, gardens, lawns, and crops. You will know when you have a gopher if you see mounds of dirt in the shape of a horseshoe or a single flat circle of dirt. Gophers never leave their tunnels open and they will plug them up if the tunnel is opened.
Moles are insectivores who eat worms, beetles, and other insects. Moles will create mounds of dirt and raised tunnels on your lawns and other landscaped areas. You will know when you have a mole if you see mounds of dirt or tunnels in moist areas. Moles live by themselves or occasionally with a mate.
